Bomb 10k Training Speed Workout

I decided to start an *impromptu* 10k training “plan”. I put plan in quotations because I’m still training week to week vs. putting together a long term structure to get me to a particular goal on a particular day. (I hope to sign up for a race soon to change this!)

I decided to start with a speed day that gave me confidence, pushed me, but was also doable.

This allowed me to feel out the pace I want to aim for in the race and see where I’m at physically.

During this *training*, I’ll probably repeat this workout 1-2 more times and add 2-3 more repeats to each the 800 & 400m.

The goal is to make sure my pace was semi-consistent and I wasn’t *dying* as the repeats went on. I aimed for a 6-7/10 effort level for each segment and wanted to be within a 10-second range since I was feeling out paces.

I wanted to go out semi-aggressive in this training because I feel the strength training I’ve put in over the last handful of months is making me a stronger runner!

It’s such a good feeling to feel confident and more comfortable running at faster paces again!

My PR 10k a handful of years back is 43:10. I’m not quite in the shape I’ll need to be to break that time, but I’d love to break a 44:30, which would be my ‘A’ goal. B goal is a sub 45 and C goal is to finish strong, regardless of how the race goes.

10k’s scare me... almost as much as 5k’s do. Anyone else think a marathon is less intimidating than a 5k? What’s wrong with me?!

*no one cares - but I hit a MAD wind tunnel in the 3rd 400m lmao* **excusess*.
