Long Beach Marathon: Best Breakfast & Coffee Shops
If you are running the Long Beach Marathon in 2021, you’ll need to know the best coffee shops and breakfast restaurants to go to pre and post race.
Here’s a list of my favorite places that I frequent, quite often! (Redundant? I’m not sure.)
The Best Coffee Shops in Long Beach, California:
Lord Windsor has a great cold brew and espresso. Their beans are excellent, so definitely ask for a pour over if you find a roast you’re a fan of.
You’ll be able to see the Alamitos Beach neighborhood. It’s very close to downtown (Pine & East Village neighborhoods) and is a cute area with small shops walking distance to bars, shops, and restaurants on Broadway, 2nd and 4th street.
I’ve called this place Recreation (missing the ‘al) for YEARS and in making this video, I noticed I was mispronouncing it. I used to work downtown and walk here quite often, so you bet I texted my old coworkers who were SHOCKED as well.
ANYWAY - cute little, local coffee shop next to a ton of restaurants, west of the East Village in downtown Long Beach.
A very trendy and tasty shop on 4th street (also a very trendy area in general). Across the street is a popular bakery. This is the place with keto pastries.
I’ve been frequenting this place quite a bit recently. A bit more on the pricier side for coffee, but if you’re traveling here for the race, it could be worth stopping by.
The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Long Beach, California:
If you want to get out of the rush of the downtown or 2nd street neighborhoods, drive a bit north east and head to the Coffee Parlor.
This place has an excellent menu, possibly a bit rich for pre race, but could be great for post race. You can also expect amazing cookies and donuts.
Try the cold brew or order your go-to drink here - it won’t disappoint.
I go here WAY too often… where do I even start.
The menu is fresh and amazing for breakfast and lunch. I typically order the Fit Bagel and a cold brew with a splash of oat milk.
There’s usually soccer playing on the tv’s and you can expect a relaxed atmosphere.
There’s also beer and wine on tap? Definitely something to look into post race!
Classic diner vibes and two locations in Long Beach. Go early or try to make a reservation if you’re nervous about a wait!
Pivoting off the diner vibes, this location is a classic in Long Beach. It’s right next to Cherry Park, which some may say is in the heart of Long Beach (not sure who, but I bet someone has said that.)
Check out the breakfast menu post race and possibly the long cocktail menu.
A gem of a spot… just so difficult to get in without a reservation! Head here post race or the day before the race for a solid breakfast. The Brekkie Sammie is my go-to and it’s absolutely amazing (it has post race vibes about it, for sure).
A trendy and gourmet breakfast spot downtown. This place also has great coffee. I used to go here quite a bit! Check out the record shop next door, too.
