Fuelmyrun’s First Blog Post: My Brain Goes on a Tangent *semi inspirational*

I think I found my big idea.

Working out, running, lifting weights, *insert fitness-related activity here* can seem daunting af. Especially if you don’t have a background of doing this type of activity repeatedly, i.e., making it a habit. On the flip side, maybe you love working out. I totally get that. But some days, it completely sucks. Whether it’s a mental battle you’re dealing with, you’re too busy with work, taking a nap sounds a lot more appealing, or whatever the heck it may be... sometimes we fall out of routine and it’s so hard to get back into it. Especially when we have a negative association to what we think “we need to do”.

Over the past couple years, I’ve come to realize (well I always knew, but a doctor confirmed - *shoutout Doctor Linda* you’re the bomb.com - do we still say that? GenZ are you there??) I struggle with anxiety. This makes the things I do a lot more difficult when I run into areas of my life that include extra stress. When I hit my stress max, which seems to happen a lot since I’m always trying to juggle 100 things at a time, I’ve noticed I was developing a negative relationship with fitness. And fitness was my lifesaver, hobby, job, and passion!

It took me awhile to realize how much our mental health and physical health are connected. But OH My FREAKING [insert word you prefer to use when making this explanation. My dad would be upset if I used the “G” work here, but it slips more often than not -___- but “gosh” just doesn’t have the same ring to it and I’m a highly dramatic person who needs to use extra emphasis on 90% of the things I say. GOSH DARN IT] !!!!!!!!! This is it! This is the secret!

My goal as a trainer is to connect the mental side of life to the physical side to find a balance that works for you. We are all so different and I believe it takes time to find that perfect balance. Once we can even out things such as our fitness, diet, work/life balance, and mental health, that is when we will find peace on this earth. I’m certain of it. Well 99% sure because this is a work in process, and that’s a huge claim to make, but I’m sticking to it!

Question:

Do you struggle with working out? What do you think the underlying reason is?
